Paper weavings

In my 8th grade Advanced Art class we create 2 different weavings. They create a yarn weaving using various patterns. Then they learn to graph a weaving design using graph paper. The warp is a painted design of their choice and they create the weft in a design or color of their choice. They create intricate patterns and weave them in paper. The results were phenomenal.

Greek paper mosaics

In the 7th grade we study Ancient Greece and Rome. Through the study of these ancient worlds we look at the beautiful pottery of Ancient Greece and the ornate mosaics of Ancient Rome. I love combining these art forms and the result is beautiful, ornate small scale Greek vase mosaics using magazine pieces. The results are amazing.

I am excited to show you what we do and how we do it. I am very fortunate to have a fabulous support system who values art and the art making process. Because of this support I am able to introduce these kids to art and my love of art making. So please follow us, check back often, and come along on our journey.
